Product Development is the art and science of looking at the processes of what it takes to bring a product successfully to market. This includes focusing on the right features, keeping a timeline, and staying on budget. Product development requires having an in-depth understanding of all aspects of the design throughout the life cycle of the product and utilizing various analytical models and methods for accomplishing system analysis and design. This not only applies in the design and evaluation of new systems, but in the evaluation and design applied to existing systems for the purpose of their improvement. Successful product development also requires properly integrating multiple engineering design and management disciplines to effectively implement the concepts and principles of systems engineering.
